Layer: Historic_Quarry_Drill_Hole_and_Sample_Locations (ID: 1)

Name: Historic_Quarry_Drill_Hole_and_Sample_Locations

Display Field: TYPE1

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPoint

Description: From: Schwochow, S.D., Shroba, R.R., and Wicklein, P.C., 1974, Sand, Gravel, and Quarry Aggregate Resources, Colorado Front Range Counties, Colorado Geological Survey, Denver, Colorado, Colorado Geological Survey Special Publication (SP) 5-A (43 pp., 3 Plates) and 5-B (420 pp.), http://coloradogeologicalsurvey.org/. Originally digitzed in 2000: Cappa, J.A., Sadlick J., Litke, D.W., McCormick, M.L. and Hiatt, C.S., 2000, Digital Version of the 197 Atlas 5-A, Colorado Geological Survey, Open File Report 00-09 (http://coloradogeologicalsurvey.org/) Revised in 2018 Historical Quarry, Drill Hold, and Sample Locations, frir_aggx_point.shp – This file contains all of the point data associated with the 1974 study (Schwochow and others, 1974) including locations and information associated with drill holes, quarries, sample sites, sand/gravel pits, etc. The field name aliases were updated to be more descriptive and the actual values, which were all one or two letter/number codes in the original version, were updated with their corresponding descriptions. For example, the original field “TYPE” was renamed to “TYPE1” and the alias “Sample Type” was included. The values in this field were originally codes (e.g. D, P, Q, etc.) that referred to the descriptions in the metadata (e.g. D = drill hole, P = sand/gravel pit, Q = quarry, etc.). The codes were replaced with the actual descriptions provided in the 2000 metadata. It is important to note that some of the overburden and resource thickness values are recorded as “0” when the fields should actually be null. It was difficult to determine which fields needed to be null. See the resource and overburden thickness qualifier fields for more information.
